Ram prices are too high. Cheaper single 8gb vs 2x4GB, any difference? Proof please

Hello there.

I'm trying to source some 8gb ram, but in the UK, all the prices are ridiculous. Most 2x4gb kits are around the £65+ mark. I've found a single corsair vengeance LP 1600mhz at £50. The cheapest 2x4gb was the patriot viper3 (now £67), but now it's the crucial balistix sport at £58.

Exactly how much difference will it make to gaming? I will not be overclocking the ram. Buying 1 8gb gives me the option of buying a second 8gb in the future.

Thanks

To add to Tradesman's answer, here is a nice benchmark.

You will often find multi-channel kits to be pricier than the single modules of the same ram of larger capacity. This is partially due to the additional effort of ensuring module compatibility. Not all ram is created equal, even from the same assembly line and ram is very finicky about other ram it associates with. Even identical ram modules may not like each other and not play well together which is why it is always suggested to upgrade ram as a "kit" (to ensure compatibility). There is some time and effort expended in matching up friendly ram. Also serves to explain why as the channels increase so does the price but not in a linear fashion (harder to match three modules than two, harder yet to match up four) - of course the process is automated so, effort may not be an appropriate term

Should've explained it I suppose, the benchmarks show times it takes for the game to complete events, so lower is better.
