An nvidia graphics card was not detected in your system

After restoring my alienware m17x r3 to factory settings. I realized that the nvidia card was not being deteced. I looked in my device manager and couldn't find gtx 460m in display adapters. I don't know what to do. Sometimes i used to get blue screens with weird errors.
windows7 home premium 64 bit
intel(r) core(tm) i7 2630qm 2.0ghz (2.8ghz turbo mode, 6mb cache)
currently i think i am running on intel hd grpahics family?
i don't know what to do! i need help!

You need to download the driver from Dell. It's a combo IntelHD/nVidia setup, where if the GPU load is low the IntelHD graphics are used.

This is what dell video updates says i need, which one?

Nvidia install says Install cannot continue

If that doesn't work, have Dell analyze your system for updates.


nvidia installer says

I would update the BIOS, then the motherboard, then the graphics drivers. In that order.

i found a driver vbios update. But when i installed it from dell, it has a read me. Then says vbios update cannot be performed within windowsl to complete this process, you must boot this cd... but obviously i don't have a cd?
