I've been wanting to save up and buy all my parts at once, but recently I saw a pretty good deal and ordered a MSI N670 PE 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 670 2GB.
Anyway I've been looking at some cpu's, particularly intel core i5 cpu's and for the price range I was considering getting maybe a i5 3470 or a i5 3570k or something. I don't know if I will overclock or not though. I would prefer not to pay over $200, but I might be willing to go a little over to like $215 possibly.
I was wondering what you guys would recommend as a good cpu for the money and what a decent compatible motherboard for my gpu and cpu would be that isn't that much money. I would be willing to spend probably around $70 to ~$100 max.
Motherboard size doesn't really matter, but I want to use at least 6GB of ram in my build.

I really recommend a K-model i5 because even though you may not want to overclock now, you at least have the option in the future. You pay $20-30 more to get an unlocked i5 and it will last you a couple more years(overclocking = upgrading)

Don't be scared to get a 3570K over a 4670K. They are often cheaper and are almost as good.

You really need to get a Z77 or Z87 motherboard to get the most out of the rest of your components. The motherboard is the LAST part that you want to skimp on.

Overclocking can push your max freq from 3.6 to 4.2/4.3GHz on a budget build. To do this you need to spend some extra money. This build will reach 4.2GHz, but costs $80 more. Usually to overclock it'll cost yah around $60-75 more. Also, the 3570k is same price as the 4670k, so might as well get the 4670k.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($119.98 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($68.00 @ Newegg)
Total: $437.96
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I am not sure how much money I am spending on the build. Probably like $800 or so l, but I don't know if I will wait and purchase them at once. I have some money for like one or two parts, but at the moment I temporarily don't have all that the whole budget covers.

Yeah that might work with my budget. I am not sure exactly how the rebate works in what it gives back, but I would probably be willing to spend the cash. So you recommend a K model over a slight step up in terms of cpu's?

I'll add the motherboard to my cart and the cpu.
I probably will order them about a week from now though. You think I should order the cpu or motherboard or ram first. I can probably order two of them together by next week.
Also what wattage power supply do you recommend?

If you're not ready to order now, you can forget about these specific deals. They won't be available next week. That motherboard is $119 with a $20 rebate and a $40 coupon. The rebate ends tomorrow and the coupon will end in a day or two. That 3450 has a $10 off coupon that will also expire.

You just need to look for deals that are available WHEN you are ready to buy. I agree that the MSI Z77 deal is too good to pass up. You should get that now if you can. You could get a 3rd gen i5 at a later date. There will be one on sale somewhere.

Oh I see. Well I dont think I will be able to make it by tomorrow. I can afford the 4670k but I am wondering if it is more worth it to get the z77 and the 3570k, unless anyone can recommend a motherboard for it.
Since I dont buy too many things online I don't really want to base it off of rebates that much. This is my first build.

The thing with electronics is that something is always on sale somewhere. When it's time to buy, you get the best deal you can find at that time. You wouldn't want to buy a i5 4670K now for $239, when you can get a i5 3450 AND a Z77 motherboard for $238 just for example. But if you wait and keep looking, the 4670K will be on sale soon enough.

I like the I7 3770k's performance a lot for it's price range so it isn't out of the question in the future, but I'm not really sure if I would make proper use of it.
