Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80605I7870
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
2 x ADATA XPG Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

So I browsed around to try and find a solution just by using things people gave in other threads and nothing has worked.

My BIOS is up-to-date
Yes I have 64bit
The hardware is all good and windows and BIOS sees the 8gb of Ram
I have tried the Maximum Memory tick and untick method
memory mapping is enabled

I am just at a loss now with this and about to go crazy.

could I just factory reset in the BIOS and it would be the same?

Did it and still only 4gb usable.

Tried that and all the sticks are good.

Looking up my board showed a lot of people have this problem with it. Some fixed it by moving around the sticks and it finally just randomly using 8gbs. I am half tempted to get got out a buy 2x4gb RAM, maybe since I have 4x2gbs it has a hard time using all 4 sticks? I made sure they got enough voltage and everything.

I did all that stuff

So I took out one of the RAM sticks and put in a extra 4gb stick that I had. So now the computer reads 10gbs but only has 6gbs usable.

So damn annoying!

Did some more testing and it seems that my 3rd and 4th slot is reading the memory but 1st and 2nd are not using the memory. What would cause this?

I'm looking at the manual for this board and it says "Due to intel spec definition, X.M.P DIMMs and DDR3-1600 are supported for one DIMM per channel."

Could that have something to do with it?
