Hi,
I have an HP dv5 1199eg laptop. It has served me for quite a few years now so I don't want to buy a new one!
For the last two months my laptop screen diminishes to about 3/4 of it's original size (in width) which means when Windows finally boots 1/4 of the entire screen is black (a black strip occurs vertically on the right site of the screen). Most of the time closing and reopening the lid a few times will take care of the issue. Lately however the screen stays black entirely. When I connect a monitor to my laptop it will switch it's screen and everything work just fine. Restarting the OS will get me a picture on my screen and my display works as it should.
What could be the problem? Sometimes the display works, sometimes the screen works on 3/4 of the screen and sometimes it doesn't work at all???
