So I built my first custom gaming computer about 4 months ago, it works fine with everything from youtube and word processing, but sometimes when I'm gaming or anything extremely high powered, the computer goes to a blue screen, then shuts off. When my computer boots itself back up I get a windows message saying that there was an unknown error, and my internet connection is lost aswell, I only get it back if I unplug my adapter.

I have run a few memory tests, and also used 'BurnInTest' but it passed all of them, eventhough I was having suspicions that it could be a memory or hard-drive fault?

Any help would be most appreciated!

P.S, for reference here are my specs:
CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3570K CPU
OS: Windows 7 - 64 bit
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti
HDD: WD 1TB Internal Hard Drive
PSU: Cooler Master RS650-ACAAE3-UK GX-Series 650W 80 Plus
RAM: Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP
MOTHERBOARD: Asus P8Z77-V LX

Well you don't have too much of a demanding system there, but I'm not a big fan of CM PSU's. I'm not saying yours is a bad one, but they had a run of PSU's that were iffy, the GX series had some issues from the reviews that I read. Here is HardOCP reviewing your PSU. It looks like it's not all that it's cracked up to be, so I'd see if you can borrow a buddy's PSU and verify if your PSU is an issue or not.

Things to double check:
* Make sure you have all of the latest drivers for you Mobo and GPU.
* Make sure your Mobo BIOS is up to date also.
* Double check all of your connections from your PSU to all of your parts in the system, to rule out bad connections. Check the pins on the connectors and make sure they look good too.

thanks for that advice, i'll open my computer and check all that later, i'll also see if i can note down what the 'blue screen' says, and its mentioned system memory dump before (just to be sure)

I haven't had a chance to look inside my computer yet, but I downloaded blue screen viewer...and this was the most common blue screen that I recieved (I have no idea if its any help)

''A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any Windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware
or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart
your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then
select Safe Mode.
