Someone told me that I can't upgrade my samsung rv518 laptop's internal HDD. Is that correct? My hard disk is making strange sound while working and I think it doesn't have much time left. Now I have a 500 gb HDD and I want to upgrade it to 1 or 2 tb. Is this possible because that person told me that I can only replace my HDD with another 500 gb HDD and can't upgrade it. Please help.

It looks to me like you have a standard 2.5" hard drive.
You also have the option for replacing your optical drive with a hard drive caddy so you can install a second hard drive.
From a performance point of view, Consider replacing the "C" drive with a SSD. It will absolutely transform your laptop.
If you buy a 500gb ssd, which will be a bit expensive, you should be able to clone your current drive to it.
Otherwise, you are facing a new windows install.

As long as you get the right sized HD you should be fine. You should need the 2.5" (laptop size) HD from just about anywhere you buy computer parts. You should have no issue with a 1 or 2 TB HD to put in the place of the 500 gb one that you currently have.

Just double check the thickness of your HD. There are 5mm, 7mm, 9mm, 9.5mm, & 15mm. Most are 9-9.5mm, so just double check it when you pull it out, before you order the HD.
