I am really torn between getting Sli 770 at 4GB or Sli 780 @ 3GB. I really wish NVidea was able to produce the 780 @ 4GB. It is a shame that a game like bf4 that is vRam hungry is just the beginning of next-gen titles that will use even more vRam. I want these GPUs to last me 3 - 4 years.

What do you guys suggest? Go with more vRam, or getting the faster card and possibly run into memory limitations in a 1 - 2 years with newer titles.

ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!!

gtx 780 will perform better at higher resolutions. the 256-bit bus on the gk104 gtx770/680 will not be able to utilize all 4gb of vram, making the 384-bit bus on the gk110 of the gtx780/titan much more relevant. In the BM's posted in the link above, even at higher resolutions such as 3x1080p, the extra vram increases fps by 0-5% with the only exception of Metro2033 LL at 3x1080p which didn't even reach the teens. If you're getting the 770's don't waste your money on the extra vram. If you have the money, go for the 780s.

What you are implying is that the memory (256-bit) bus will increase on each card to accommodate the 4gb of vram. SLI (and CF) uses alternate/split frame rendering, which splits the workload between the gpus, meaning they work independently from each other and makes the benchmarks previously posted still valid for two or more cards. Please show benchmarks to prove otherwise.

If your looking for sli that will last 3-4 years then 780s will work

Would just waiting for the 290x to have better cooling options be a better choice? I just don't want to blow my money on something that's maxing out video memory right out the door... Like 2x 780 3GB in battlefield 4

the 512-bit bus and 4gb of vram on the r9 290x and 290 are really tempting. the 780ti is right around the corner and will have the same 384-bit bus and 6gb of vram as the titan. there's a rumor that some variations might have 12gb (and unlocked voltages) with 4k gamers in mind. whether the 780ti will be able to use all of it? we'll have to see. $700

I have 4gb 770's in SLI. While playing in surround and I use about 2.5gb of vram while playing BF4. I'm avg around 48 FPS with ultra settings. Looking back I wish I'd have gotten the 780's. The 3gb of vram will not hold you back at all.

That is what I'm thinking I might just ride the integrated GPU until all the aftermarket GPU coolers for both come out. I might even just blow out my Monitor budget for now in favor of sli 780 Ti
