Why do workstation not displaying the higher possible resolution by my graphics card nVidia Quadro FX 580

I am using Dell T3500 workstation model. My system showing 1680 x 1050 as my maximum resolution available. But as per my graphics card i can get upto 2560 x 1600. I have also installed the latest driver.

Can anyone help me get this resolved.

Spec:

Monitor:

Dell P2210

Graphics Card:

NVIDIA Quadro FX 580

Cable:

DVI-D Dual Link Cable

Windows:

Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Question:

1 ) does the maximum resolution depends on the Cable we connect?

2 ) does the maximum resolution depends on the monitor?

Looking for solution to get maximum resolution. Thanks.

  1. 1)yes, but not issue for your case. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface
    2)yes
  2. Your max resolution on that screen is 1680X1050. I would look into an upgrade... Monitors aren't too pricy, worth looking into.
