I am sorry but not really... You really need an upgrade :/  What is your budget for a bunch of parts?

Intel's Core 2 Quad CPUs still provide pretty decent performance; which is the main reason why I am still using my Q9450. However, more recent Intel generation CPUs are more powerful at the same clockspeed.

Unless you are getting the Q9705 for a very cheap price, I think you are simply better off saving up money for an Intel Ivy Bridge or Haswell CPU whichever is cheaper.

Jaguar knows more than me so listen to him. But I think you should Upgrade to an I5 4670k or if you dont want to OC, an i5 4570 will do you just fine :)

Kinda but that depends on the title and how you set up the rig. Been experimenting on and old 05 model rig and surprisingly a lot of games work rather well despite being a pentium m 770 @2.5ghz on a msi speedster 915 with a 4650. Personally if you want a lasting rig that doesn't need a lot of tweaking that is fast in almost anything current a new i5 based system will do. As for being economical a 45nmn core 2 quad will do but they do need a Good board.

Don't bother with AMD in the mainstream and going K edition for Intel is worth it if you need to overclock later.

I agree...AMD is really good for GPU's but im not a fan of their CPU's :/

I say get a 3570k, 4670k, if you dont wanna OC, 3470 or 4570
