7770 vs 7790

Hi team/

Is there a big difference between the 1gb vs 2gb card? I need to make a choice.

The 7790 is a completely different chip from the 7770, which makes for a larger difference in performance than memory size. The 7790 is actually closer in performance to the new R7 260X.

If you are choosing between the two to buy, the cheapest 7770 is $80. The cheapest 7790 is $100. I'd skip both and get a 7850 if you are buying in that price range. The MSI 2GB 7850 for $110. Best choice.

The 2 GB card would let you play games at higher resolutions, assuming the GPU is powerful enough to maintain a playable framerate at the higher resolution.
