So I am thinking of upgrading to a better screen than 1080p. While looking on newegg I see many formats that are higher than 1080p. For example 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 or 2560x2048. No I know I can do the math and figure out the one with the most pixels. I guess my question is is one format supported more than the other. Is there a go to resolution I should be looking at?

Thanks

IMO 2560x1440 and 2560x1600 are common higher resolutions. It all depends on what you want/need really.

2560X1600 will give more vertical space (16:10) but probably costs a bit more.

As you may already know - higher resolutions will beat down your GPU quite a bit, especially past 1080P.

Im thinking 770gtx SLI should be good for the 2560x1440 as far as GPU power. So that format should be widly supported then correct?

If looking at 770's in SLI, consider the R9 290X or GTX 780, a little less power, but single cards run nicer than SLI. (I run SLI. Good performance, but hot and loud.)

Yes. Computers give plenty of options for resolutions - 2560x1600 would definitely give you more viewing space than 1440P, at the cost of GPU power.

I agree as well with Pyjamascat - I would go with 1GPU over 2 any day due to thermal management.

If you already have a 770GTX - consider selling it for a single higher end GPU.

I have been running 770SLI for quite some time now and love it. Im not a noise perfectionist. If I'm playing a game its loud enough to cover the fan noise and if not the fan profile is almost silent. thanks for the input though :)

I already have the 770's in SLI. I don't think there is a single card solution that comes close to the performance of the two cards I have. 4GB ram and a 200mhz OC from gigabyte. It gets hot for sure while gaming a lot but the cards manage their temp real well never above 75c.
