Hi There!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Problem: I have a Toshiba Satellite L645 Notebook which was working absolutely fine till 2 days back after which I quickly backed up all my data and created a system image on an external HDD.

The problem is that now my notebook just doesn't boot. When you press the power button then the lights come on and you can hear the fan running but the hard disk doesn't seem to startup. What's more then when you switch off and switch on the notebook a number of times using the power button then it suddenly comes on and initiates the hard disk to run. Rest everything works perfectly and it doesn't show any virus or disk error. I have checked everything but have not found any issues that i could understand that were causing the problem so was hoping to get some answers / solutions to the above.

Cheers!

It sounds like the fan may have become clogged.

From what you describe, there would appear to be an over-heating problem.

Does the case near the fan outlet seem particularly warm?

Does leaving the machine switched off for a while make any difference to the length of time it takes for the problem to appear?

Thanks for your response!

- There is no over-heating problem,
- The case near the fan outlet does seem warm but its normal as it has always been and there is alot of air space and room for ventilation,
- Leaving the machine switched off for a while does not make a difference,

However, today i went into the BIOS settings and changed a few configurations to optimum. For e.g:-
- Remove from Enabled to AUTO!
- Changed or Enabled Keyboard Sleep & System start-up from sleep,
- Changed the booting to CD/DVD drive 1st & the HDD,

I saved the settings and guess what the system is back to normal and everything is working fine without any issues.

Cheers and thanks!
