I don't know anything about pc specs and stuff really just trying to be able to play BF4 on Ultra settings and be happy with it. Im primarily a console gamer and soley bought my pc to play BF4 so don't care about my card working with any other games as this is the only game being installed on my PC. I have been looking for dayyyysssss on articles on cards but cant decide between a AMD RA 280X or a NVidia 770gtx??? I know the 770 is 400$ more so if the ra 280x will let me play at ultra just fine with a good fps im happy. I was looking at the MSI 4GB version of the 770 or the RA 280x probably sapphire toxic edition. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME !!!! . I have a good cpu and all the other stuff needed to play it just need the card and want to buy it asap. Im gonna be playing at 1920x1080 resolution on a single 25inch monitor

I'm not sure about your personal preference for new/used hardware or overclocking, but my personal recommendation would be to get a 7970 and overclock it to 7970 ghz edition levels, and then you have for all practical purposes the same card as the 280x. They are readily available from reputable sellers on ebay for ~$250.

If you prefer or feel more comfortable with new, the 280x is what I would recommend.

I also anticipate that as you see the 290 come out and the supply of 290 and 290x cards, you will see the 7970s flood the used market and drive prices down (at least temporarily).

Also, in the spirit of fair play, you can find 770s online for ~$330.

Yeah I heard a lot about the it just being a rebranded 7970 maybe just a tad btter but since im mainly a console person overclocking seems way over my head lol. I read how BF4 is optimized for AMD and something called"mantle" coming out will change everything whatever that is. So far after days and days of research it looks like 60% of ppl prefer the 280x and the rest the 770. is the 4gb of vram with the 770 I was lloking at gonna make a big diiference over the 3 with the sapphire toxic 3gb one???. I did find the 770's for around 300$ but the\ose were the 2gb versions. I was leaning more towards the 4gb versions like the MSI for future proofing. My power supplys is only 460w so proibably need a new one of those too

I saw some 280 cards for right around 300$ even but heard a lot of good things about sapphire cards and the toxic edition which is about 349.99 so was considering that one ulness its not necessary . The 770 cards I was looking at are about 389-399 for the 4gb version ones. Leaning towards MSI for 770. Im only oplaying on a single monitor at 1920x1080 resolution think it is a 25inch monitor. I have a 60inch 3D tv and a 42inch LED my son uses but figured it would new a lot better card to play on TV's those size

obviously im clueless about all this lol. Wasn't sure how it works when it comes to monitor or tv size or 3D and stuff like that. Like a bigger tv needs a bigger card or better cpu or what. I would lov to play it min 3d on my other tv but that setupo seems expensive.

It's not about the size of the tv, but about the resolution. Your 42 and even 60 inch tvs are likely the same resolution as your 1080p monitor (at least I'm assuming they would be), so you would get exactly the same performance on your 60 inch tv as you would on your 25 inch monitor.

The Sapphire Toxic is the fastest R9-280X but not by more than 4fps over the Gigabyte Windforce R9-280X. The big difference is that it costs $60 more which to me, is just not worth it. Get the Gigabyte and you'll be happy. I know I am. ;-)

Proofy

Admirable
280x series has a lot of artifacting issues, be careful what you buy. For BF4 yea 280x is better just for few FPS I would still go with GTX770 because it is better quality and will outlast 280x. Also I believe that bf4 is not the only game you play do you? :) Also you get lower power consumption with gtx 770

Between R9 290 and GTX770 would choose R9 290 (of course if you can afford it..)
