ASUS Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II Top vs Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 OC 4GB

The R9-280X easily beats the GTX 760 no matter how much VRAM is on board. The 3GB on the R9-280X (HD 7970) are far more than one monitor needs. Don't be fooled by marketing trickery like putting more VRAM on a board than it can actually use. Even in SLI, 4GB would be wasted.

+1 280X all the way, and the Asus is among the best, that's the one I decided on and no regrets

And since I don't regret my Gigabytes, the OP has two solid choices for what brands he wants. Although, I also know that you can't go wrong with Sapphire. :D

You can see some benchmarks here. The 280x seems to get better results in high resolutions... but overall they aren't much different.

I purchased the asus r9 280x top about 1 month ago to go in a new build(i5 4670k) and all I can say is WOW!!....every game BF4, Crysis 3, Dead space 3, COD ghosts, Need for speed rivals etc, etc.....it doesn't matter which game, it can play them all on ultra with no problems...no heat issues and very little noise, infact I cant hear it over my case fans, so really does tick the boxes and I was able to get it for around £260....I just don't see any need to pay more for a graphics card when this does such a good job......

Kind regards
