i got hd 7850 2gb and am planning to get a new processor because mine is core2duo i watched videos on youtube and found that i7-3770k doesn't make a big diffrence with fx-6100 in bf3 but the diffrence in price is way too much am also planing to play cod ghosts and wow and if i get the fx-6300 ill get with it ASUS M5A78L-M LE Socket AM3+ Motherboard because am on budget tight thank you

Solution

It will make a difference if you upgrade to FX 6300 or the FX 8320 from a core2duo!

You can not compare i7-3770k with the FX-6300 as i7 ivy bridge is much more powerful than the 6300.

However if you plan to game, get a FX 8320 and an AM3+ socket mobo.

The extra 2 cores in the 8320 will be really useful

it won't bottleneck it right ? as the core2duo is really bottlenecking it

Wow, I'm surprised it's that close between them. Yeah, as boucedk said you won't really see a difference.

yeah that's obviously true, but will fx 8350 make a big diffrence on the 6300 in gaming cause maybe i could add some pounds and get it

If you can get the 8320, do so. It'll allow you to multitask a bit better than the 6300 and performs a bit better in newer games. You mentioned the fx 6100 in your post (I don't know if it was accidental). If you are considering an FX CPU only get one of the piledriver ones: 4300/4350/6300/6350/8320/8350. You should also look at getting an aftermarket CPU cooler such as the Hyper 212 EVO by coolermaster to allow you to overclock. However if you're on a tight budget that can wait.

i think he meant between the fx-6300 and i5-3470

?

Those benchmarks show the 8350 and 3770k as being close in performance and I was surprised. It didn't have anything to do with the 3470. In fact, the only time the 3470 was mentioned was in your title :p
