Need some guidance related to AM2 socket

hi ..
currently my processor is AMD AM2 socket
AMD athlon 64 X2 4000+

i want to know which CPU i can use in this board.
Plz suggest if i can go for AMD athlon 64 X2 6400+?

Actually the point is, a few days back while i was brushing up my mobo, i tried to clear the dust near the processor, so i tried to open up the processor, by pulling up the fan.
the processor was sticked to the FAN because of the heat sink. when i tried to pull the fan by unlocking it, the porcessor came along with the fan from the socket, and 2 pins got broken and left in the socket itself.
please suggest if that processor can be used again?

so now i am thinking of changing the processor
previously it was AMD athlon 64 X2 4000+

now i am thinking of upgrading it.

No, ofcourse you can't. Is dead. I could give you a list of the compatible AM2 processors, but I can't without the motherboard model.
Do you have budget only for CPU or you could upgrade the system?
I will try to search for some good AM2 processor.
