hi guys i was wondering if windows 8/8.1 worth or i should buy windows 7 for my new pc i want to hear your opinions on this... thanks in advance

The OS is pretty much the same under the hood. Look at the versions, and its all version 6.X . The biggest difference is the user interface(and a few minor tweaks), but performance-wise there isn't much of a difference. I think the biggest advantage to Win 8 is having the same look, and feel across several platforms(Tablet, phone, laptop, desktop), but other than that I don't think there is a huge advantage over Win 7.

Well I have used Window 7 for a few years now.
And before that Windows XP , and 98.

I must say since i`m an old crock now I have been conditioned to the look and feel of the operating system`s and there layout.
It never took too much time from one to the other to get going and knowing where things were.

Windows 8 and 8.1 are a bit of a shock to the system.
I tried it for a few months then ditched it in favor of Windows 7
Half the time I found the metro interface annoying to be completely honest. Along with the stupid charms bar that hides its self.

Some people say windows 8 is faster and better.
When working with it and having to do things within Windows I found it to be more of a pain in the ass TBH.

I found it was far quicker to do things on Windows 7 than 8.
Half the time with windows 8 it was more easy to use the short cut keys
Than even bother with the Metro interface.

If your a first time user then you may have more luck using it.
My thought was why change a good thing people like the look off and know how to use it effectively through experience.

A tile based system works fine on a phone or a tablet, but when it comes to touch. but simply does not work on a computer with no touch screen.

Its a big no for me, I`m hardly going to spend an extra £100 plus for a touch screen that i have to clean every day. When I all ready have a mouse and keyboard that do the job just fine Just because the Os has the option.

I will wait for windows 9.

And stick with Windows 7.

Assuming you are buying an oem version, they are both fairly similar in price, so in the end it comes down to what you prefer.

I found 8 to be slightly faster, although not enough to warrant an upgrade.
Despite what many say about metro, it isnt that hard to navigate around, im now just as fast with both versions (maybe even a bit faster than 8). It's mostly about personal preference. And despite what many seem to be assuming, you don't really have to use metro that much, just put htings on the desktop.
As said before, while there were some significant changes, the 2 OS arent quite so different aside from some UI changes

It comes down to personal opinion, considering their price similarity. If you already have 7 on your computer then 8 is not worth the upgrade, but if you are just buying a new OS then I would definitely recommend 8.

*As someone with both a desktop and laptop using 8.1 right now I like it. I can see why some do not, but I do like some of it's features and would definitely recommend it for a brand new system/OS install

Windows 8/8.1 provides more options for the user, especially in the look and feel of the OS and as already mentioned it crosses device platforms (desktop, tablet, phone). With Win 8 you have the option of using the apps and downloading more apps from the MS Store as well toggling between the Metro/Modern interface and the desktop. Live tiles on the Metro interface are also handy at times, especially for email and social apps. But of course this all personal preference.

Win 8.1 provides more customization's for you than Win 8, such as booting straight into the desktop rather than the Start Screen. It also has SkyDrive (MS cloud service) built into the file system, which is handy for me if i want to quickly save docs in the cloud. Also, the Start button (although limited compared to the Win 7 and XP version) has returned with Win 8.1. However, if you want, you can replace this start button with some third party software, such as Start Menu Reviver, to make it more functional.

My screen is not a touch screen, but I have found that once I knew how the navigation works, especially with the Charms Bar, it didn't take long to work things out with a mouse and keyboard. The scroll wheel on the mouse is also helpful.

For more of an insight into Win 8.1 and the customization's that can be achieved, I have uploaded a number of videos to my YouTube Channel TutevoTech if you want to check them out. These videos focus mainly on the customization's that can be done and give an introduction to some of the apps and SkyDrive.
