I want to fir st thank everyone one here for helping me get this far. I've been using your forums and website to help me with my build, but I've ran into a snag that I can't find an answer for.

I read the sticky for builds that wont post, and did all of it. I've read my manuals and I've ready other posts. My components include:

AMD FX-6300
Asus M5A97 LE r2.0
cooler master hyper 212 evo
8GB x 1 G. Skill RipJaw 1866 hertz (this is not in the MB manual as compatible.... :/ )
Saphire Radeon HD7870 2GB
Rosewill Hive 650W
Seagate 1TB HDD

After building, I followed the steps in the manual for powering it on. PSU plugged in, switched on, keyboard plugged into USB, audio cord plugged in for screen speakers, HDMI cord. It powers on, all three fans are spinning, the green LED on the MB is glowing, but no beeps, keyboards don't work, and no picture.

I've tried removing the RAM and still no beeps.
I've tried removing the card and ram and still nothing.
I get the same outcome no matter what I try.
I've removed the heatsink and reset the CPU.
I've reset the G card and RAM.
I've triple checked all cables and fan wires.
I have an OLD nvidia card lying around. I will try that when I get back home.

Follow the guide step by step http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-ste... If everything is correct and case speaker in use then it looks like the board might be bad since it should beep with no ram.

I was in a rush when I typed this. I had to go to class. I was meaning to ask about the case speaker. Do all cases have a case speaker? I know where the prongs are Im just not sure how to hook it up... I have no cords are anything. I thought I could get it through the traditional green audio port on the motherboard.

This is my first build btw.

It is in the guide, some motherboards have it built in some cases have a little speaker that comes with them that goes on the special Case speaker header on the board.

So, if my motherboard comes with a little green LED instead of a case speaker, then I don't need a case speaker right? My light is shining solid green btw...and it never changes. I'm trying to find out what this means. My manual says nothing about the codes it might throw

A problem I find with all boards with codes lights what ever, no explanation in the motherboard manual. The speaker is the simplest thing.

Alright, I got a mobo speaker and there's still no beeps. I also have walked through the whole guide this time and have done everything. A very small amount of thermal compound did squeeze out the side but it didn't really touch anything.

I've tried swapping the video card out for one that I know works, and nothing changed. All fans no beeps and no picture.

I've tried moving my RAM around. I do have one slot that is covered by the heatsink, but the RAM is not supposed to be in that slot.

I'm going to start removing stuff to get a response and start adding as I go. Should I breadboard while doing this?

I just noticed a 3/8 inch very skinny line of thermal compound on the Mobo and a couple dots. Could this be the cause? is it irreversible? If not, how do I clean it? alcohol?

Yep rubbing alcohol should work. Really starting to look like DOA board if no beeps.

So i breadboarded with just CPU HSF and PSU and I got nothing. Is there a chance that the speaker doesn't work? Since I was having the video problems before I guess I could assume its component failure.

I'm going to try and send some stuff back. Thank you a lot for your help. Just needed an extra opinion to see if I forgot something. Thank you.

Unlikely that the speaker does not work based on your issues most likely board.
