Before wasting anyones time asking a question that google should answer, please know that i did do my research, but here I am here anyway.

Open box laptop from Newegg arrived today. Someone didn't finish Windows 8 installation and I'm stuck in a boot up loop. I get the Acer splash screen and an error message that says, "to install windows on this computer, restart the installation." Laptop did not come with boot or recover disks, so I assume there's a recovery partition on the harddrive.

My first idea is to try to do that. I cannot get into any menu's, boot, bios, nothing. This is my first acer so I did my research there, and according to the masses of other forums that google directed me to, either f2, f4, f8, f10, f12 or the delete or escape keys, as well as holding down alt along with one of the above mentioned keys (depending on who posted it on which forum) should get me in... nothing does.

How do I enter the boot menu on an Acer Aspire V3-5551G? My other option I think would be to wipe the hard drive and install Windows 7 from a disk I have at home, however, I can't do anything until I get out of this loop and I am apparently inept at entering bios or boot menu's.

Please advise... specific instruction as to which f-key combination is correct, whether it is to be multi-tapped, held down or single-tapped would be nice. Any other suggestions regarding the main problem about windows not having finished install before someone boxed it up would be nice too.

Thanks for the help,

Slim

update:

I figured out how to enter setup utility, so I enabled f12 for boot menu. Went the boot options menu and the only option listed is Windows Boot Manager. Suggestions for next step?

Thanks again,

Slim

Spoke with Acer rep today, he had me do something I'd never done before, turn the laptop on, as soon as splash screen pops up force shutdown. Do that two or three times and eventually a recovery page shows up. My error is a fatal error, code 0xc0000001 which apparently requires an install disk to correct. I was not sent an install disk.

Still hoping for some insight
