Z68 USB 3.0 stops working a few minutes after boot

I am having quite an odd problem with my back USB3.0 ports. (using windows 7 64 bit by the way) If I plug in my keyboard (or any other device for that matter) It will work for a few minutes starting at boot (the time varies). It is fully usable at this point and is entirely detected. Then at a random time with no noticeable cause the power to the ports just cuts off. If I unplug the device and replug it it is still entirely unresponsive. If I go into the windows device manager it will show the usb hub and controller and indicates it is working properly. If I try to change any properties though, the pc crashes. If I scan for hardware changes the controller and hub disappears. Any ideas? It seems like a definite hardware issue but I don't know what would both allow it to work fine for a while and then fail entirely. Thanks for your help!
