Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, so if i sound lame please forgive me.

I am using ASUS Z68 V-Pro, i already have 2 sticks of 4Gb Corsair Veangeance ram installed. I wanted to increase my RAM to 16gigs (for video editing, rendering in Max). What i want to know, if my RAM works as dual channel (2x 4GB) and single channel (1x 8GB) or that one stick converts my system to single channel only.

This is my config:
i7 2600k
ASUS Z68
2x 4GB Ram
MSI GTX580 Lightning

Thanks in advance. :)

To run dual you would need to get another 2x8GB or 2X4GB sticks.

For dual channel you have to get two identical ram modules/sticks.

For 16 GB = 8GB+8 GB.

What i wanted to ask is if my system works as dual channel (for 2x 4gb) and single channel for 8gb stick... or it converts all my memory to single channel. Will that single channel affect my video editing and rendering?

If you already have 2x4GB sticks installed, adding another 1x8GB will no longer be a dual channel. You will put more load on the memory controller and your system stability will be effected negatively!
