Before you update the BIOS, you can check what version the bios you have, here is how to http://www.wikihow.com/Check-BIOS-Version

So you need update the BIOS to the 1701 version at least with the old cpu on the MB, after done the bios update, install the new cpu 960T.
You can install the latest version, if you can't do it then the software will tell you which one you need to install first.

Here is the cpu support list http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2N68AM_PLUS/#support
The 960T is on the list but you need the BIOS version at least 1701, and the newer one is 1804 to run the 960T. http://www.asus.com/support/Download/1/24/M2N68AM_PLUS/

HD96ZTWFK4DGR is an OEM/tray microprocessor
HD96ZTWFGRBOX is a boxed microprocessor

Actually that CPU is supported with a BIOS update (1701 and up). Since you have a working processor now. Download and install the latest BIOS from the ASUS support site.

There is a slight caveat to all of this. Your AM2+ socket isn't going to offer full bandwidth to the new chip which is an AM3 chip, but it will be faster then your current chip.

Not sure where the notion came from that Athlon is exclusive to FM2, that is a recent development. Athlon class chips have been made for over ten years with many different socket standards.

Before you wrote this I had already made a screenshot of the current version of the BIOS.I have the 1702 version so I don't need to update it right?
