Hello, I am doing an upgrade of an old(ish) HP Pavilion Slimline s5753w. To make things easier, full specs on this desktop can be found here http://goo.gl/WLveJq . This desktop is owned by my younger brother, who does not have enough money to build something from scratch, but can afford a few new parts. He is using the computer for gaming, and understands that he won't be able to run games at the highest settings after I do the upgrade. I am hoping that he will be able to play at medium-low settings on most games, at least for the time being. So, here is what I am planning to do.

-Move all components from the the HP case into a new NZXT Source 220 (http://goo.gl/uYaJA2)

-Replace the VERY small 110 watt PSU with a Corsair CX 500 (http://goo.gl/0oq8UE)

-Install a new GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7850 2GB OC into the board, the current setup is using integrated graphics, so I am hoping this change will improve it's performance while gaming a lot. I do understand that the board has a PCIe 1.0 slot, and the performance of the GPU will be limited a bit. (http://goo.gl/dv2HM)

-Increase the RAM in the build to 8gb of 1333MHZ (The most that the board can handle) (http://goo.gl/yKpz5c)

So, do you think that this upgrade will make a difference at all? I am keeping the CPU, Motherboard, HDD, Optical Drive, and OS the same. (Note that I updated the OS to windows 8, which has improved the desktop's performance a lot more than I expected). But the bottom line is, do you think that this is worth it? Or is there something that you think I could have him do that would be better.

Thank you for your time.
