I have the Asus Maximus vi hero edition and I cannot seem to fit my GTX 780 into the top PCI-E slot. I have tried several times and resorted it to putting it in the bottom slot. If that is the only place it can go that is fine, but if there is a way to fix it that would be great.

Can you see if anything is blocking the card? Like something jammed in the slot? Is the slot bent? Is there another card in the way? Have you removed the slot covers and screws on you case? Just look quickly for these simple thing you might have missed. (I usually miss the case slot covers.)

If there is a bent piece, return the board if you can.

I had trouble fitting my gigabyte gtx 760 into my asus sabertooth pci slot as well, it just didnt seem to want to sit down right (I couldnt screw it into the back. I compromised a bit by screwing in the bracket thing (carefully) while pressing it into the slot. Also, make sure those tab-lock things on the pci slot are in the unlocked position

No, nothing I can see is broken or bent, it goes about half way in and the it just wont go in any further. I put my wirlesss adapter card there and it works fine.

Is there a problem with it being on the bottom most slot, is it getting enough airflow? I has a good inch and a half before the PSU is there, is that oklay?

It probably depends more on your fan set up in that case. If it bothers you then you might be able to put in another bottom intake fan if your case fits it (although I'm not expert with fan placement)

Are you using either red slot?

Yes, the bottom most one.

Would my graphics card be cooler if it was on the top most one?

Probably, due to a larger airspace around it to play with and have fed through the fan(s). Have other video cards or cards that use the full x16 space fit before (is the networking card a full x16 )?

No, it is a brand new motherboard and graphics card.
