Howdy,

well yeah, a follow on to the other thread about Pinnacle Studio 14HD ... It's gone now, but it's not "gone" ... the programme seems to have died a good and final death ... But there is still 'Pinnacle' results showing up wherever I look ... so I wanna clean the machine out ... I just don't know how ...

Thanks :)

Good morning ma'am. I think I may be able to assist you here.

However, I am honour-bound to inform you that at this stage it would probably be much quicker and cleaner to install and then uninstall the original Pinnacle 14 program.

Cleaning the registry can be mind-numbingly tedious. And dangerous.

We can go as far as you want and the install - uninstall option will be available to you.

However, by going through this process, you may gain a little insight into how your bits and bytes operate and that, with the added excitement of danger, is what makes computers cool.

So, would you like to rummage around the registry and see what we can find out?

I suggest you have pen and paper handy - you might want to doodle. :)

And good morning to you kind sir ;-)

ok well if you think install then uninstall immediately is going to clean it up - I'll do that first ... then we can play with complicated things :-/ or maybe I'll just freak out and go "stuff it, let it stay" ...
I do have a thing called "RegDeleteS14", I'm not actually sure what to do with it - it got put on there by my father when this first started, and he's the only one who has used it ...
I have the install disc ready if that's where we go first ...

Yeah, like, well, if needs be, it will be much quicker to get shut of it again if we have to.

We should be okay though.

The thing is, try to choose exactly the same options as you did before.

Especially, 'Install for all users' if it comes up, not 'just for me, Alicia'.

Okay, reinstall Pinnacle 14.

Don't forget to strap yourself in.

Really dude, 'rummage' in the registry? I'll cause a nuclear fall out doing that probably ... unless it's simply a case of going "find pinnacle" and delete it wherever it shows up ... but that doesn't sound like a good idea ...

The pen and paper may end up being used for my suicide note LOL

Speaking of such things, I found two files on my desktop that were created during our 'blow it's brains out' fun ... I have no idea where they came from or what they are ... one's pretty boring - the other looks important ...

I'm running the install disc now - and I'm using the primary Alicia account, not the AliciasAsylum one ...
*yay, wonder what'll break - something will for sure! It IS me after all*

ok, started the install and it went "This will run an upgrade to studio 14, do you want to continue" WtF? It's the INSTALL disc, not some upgrade disc or software
*bangs head on desk again*
(I'm getting bruises)

I caught a lucky break today. Another one if you count our initial encounter as today.

I ordered a new motherboard on-line. Went through the whole process, picked the board from a list, checkout, bank details...

... and right at the point I was about to finalise the transaction, I noticed a message box inviting me to leave extra details should I wish to do so...

... I thought I would leave a friendly message that might give them a giggle back at the depot.

So I told a story of a young girl tragically deprived of her beloved Dell laptop in a fetching red colour. I explained about the motherboard, how she wanted to be restored to her former satisfaction and how grateful all of Facebookland would be delighted to have Laverne back in the midst of their idealised virtual social circle...

... and sent it.

A few minutes later I got a message back from An An (I call her 'Double An' for short) and she wrote, '... and did Laverne specify 'massively long model number' exactly. This is important.'

Whereupon, I did a re-check and found that I ordered a board that was slightly different from the one she had. I almost bought the wrong board.

I told Double An how silly I felt, I was very tired and she reassured me that the correct board would be dispatched.

If I hadn't sent that message I would not have known until I noticed a performance issue with Laverne's laptop.

Cool huh? .:)

And lucky.

How's it going intrepid explorer?

The files that appeared on the desktop - what are their names?

Are they slightly greyed out?

They might be hidden files that have been there for a while.

Right click on one, select Properties and see how old it is.

Huh ... see now that's how customer service SHOULD work ...

This little Australian mouse however is stumped ... why if 14 is gone, does the install disc want to UPDATE it not just do a fresh install?

I'm going to try doing the whole "when all else fails - restart" option first then get back to you ...

Yeah, I just had the longest restart in history ... I decided to do a system clean up while I was at it ... deleted the system files along with it ... and then it took half an hour to restart "please wait, cleaning, do not turn off your computer" ... it's faster now after having done that, but wow it took a while ... and I'm about to not be here ... sorry, I'll have to pick this up later - gotta get into a fight with Corel as well ... but I actually have to leave the house (DAMN), so I won't be back for a few hours ... sorry dude ... I'll be back ... get some sleep ... I'm not at all sure you've done any sleeping while I've been around LOL

Hi. How are you?

I installed Pinnacle 14 on my machine and was able to remove it manually.

I made the program break so I got similar messages to you and the install wouldn't work properly.

But I did get it off.

I put it back on again and started making a list for you.

I am so tired today. :)
