I'm a custom computer beginner.
Currently running a Dual core AMD processor, i want to upgrade to a Quad core.
I've got a Biostar N68S3+ motherboard (not the best)
I got told that If i want quad core i need to change the PSU CPU 4 plug/slot to a 8 or get a new PSU.
My Motherboard is compatible with Quad core.

Do i need to change the PSU CPU power plug for Quad core?

Any Questions, ask!

Cheers :)

No, as long as your chipset / bios and socket are compatable with the new chip, you will not need to change the PSU plug.

Nope, that stuff does not matter at all. 4 pin vs 8 pin, no difference. If your motherboard supports the processor you are about to install, it does not matter if you use 4pin or 8pin.
