Hello,
I'm about to place an order for my new build, based on:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K Box, LGA1150
MB: ASUS Maximus VI Gene (C2) Z87 Sockel 1150 mATX DDR3
RAM: 16GB(2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance Pro PC3-14900U (DDR3- 1866) SKU CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R
Video: ASUS GTX770-DC2O-2GD5 DirectCU II OC
Case : Aerocool DS Cube Window RED D.R

The problem.
Cooler size on Asus Gene VI and RAM slots.

My choices:

1) 120mm CoolerMaster Hyper 412S
2) 120mm CoolerMaster Hyper 412Slim
3) 120 Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
4) 90mm Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro REV.2

I would not be OC the system extremely. (Only for education.)
I prefer quiet PC but no water cooling.
Price range: about 15$ - 35$
I need all 4 Ram slots available.

Questions:

- Whats the size of that heat sink square mark for heat sink placement on the gene vi ? (See yellow square on the picture.)
- I'm worried that my first three (120mm) fan/sink choices are going to have problems with the RAM slots. (No space to fit.)

- Anyone used them on Gene VI?

- Feel free to recommend (120mm) air/heatsink models based on the criteria above.

Thank you very much,
K

Nice build :)
the default slot arrangement for the Gene VI is and 2nd & 4th slot.
and there is plenty off room around the cpu for most hsf's
you should be ok with either of the HSF's you have picked :)

Thank you for your answer, Geek Theif!
I can see you have a water cooling beast there!

How do I find out for sure that they will fit?
Is there some Gene vi heatsink-size measurement formula?

I updated my post with some picture information.

Thanks again!

its got the same spacing as all intel skt 1155/1150 HSF's.
the the motherboard VRM Heatsinks are low profile. so pretty much all HSF's will clear them.
but if you like i can try and get some measurements later tonight for you :)

the motherboards VRM heatsinks are just under 30mm at there highest points.

from left to right (between the VRM heatsink and first memory dimm slot you have 100mm of space.

from the top VRM heatsink and the first PCI-E your got about 125mm of space.
(u could not get my rule is to measure correctly as the system was running when i was takeing measurements).

100 mm?
Ram might fit with some "help", but looks very tight even with my smallest 120mm choice.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Heat Sink 116 x 51 x 159 mm (4.6 x 2.0 x 6.3 in)
Fan/Cooler 120 x 120 x 25 mm (4.7 x 4.7 x 1 in)

So,
51mm - size of the heat sink.
51 / 2 =25.5 (ideal CPU center)
25.5 + 25(fan) = 50.5cm left from CPU center to first Ram slot.
Looks very tight.
Thanks!
