What attributes of memory sticks do I need to match?

Hello, hoping you clever people might be able to help me. I have some relatively old (3 years?) Corsair RAM, 8gig in total. I'm looking to upgrade to 16gb as I'm doing a lot of photo editing, but after placing an order for identical sticks and waiting 3 months I was advised that they're no longer available and no amount of searching shows any for sale.

What attributes do I need to match to buy another 8gig to match? It's DDR3 memory. I've always tried to match brand and model exactly previously...

Thanks in advance!

Best bet would be to get a single set of 16GB in the freq you want, mixing DRAM can (and often is) be problematic...If you look through the forums there always numerous postings of folk that have mixed DRAM and don't know why the different sticks aren't playing together - if mixing DRAM was as easy many think, the makers would simply sell single sticks at higher prices and let people buy as many as they want ;) though with tolerances as tight as they are the makers would go broke from handling RMAs...have been told of sticks RMAed, generally about 80-85 % of them are perfectly fine - the problems were mixing with other sticks and not knowing how to set DRAM up

Ah I feared someone would say that! It's what I suspected. Just seems harsh that buying what was decent memory 3 or 4 years ago and already I can't match it.... GRRRR!
