Hello All,

I have finished a recent 4770 build and have noticed that the motherboard is nearly always 5 - 8 degrees C hotter than cpu. I am a bit puzzled by this as usually it's the cpu that runs hotter. This occurs idle or underload (mainly from gaming).

The only thing I can think of is the video card is heating the board. It is a his iceQ turbo 7950.

Any ideas on other possibilities? As summer is starting here, I am worried that the system will cook before the end of the year.

Much appreciated.

if your using hardware monitor you may be reading the north bridge temps. those temps are a little hotter if the vendor did not use anything to cool the chip with. on some mb they stick a large heat sink on it. the chip will run a little hotter if the system is over clocked or you bump up the ram voltages.

May want to increase the airflow in the case and ensure all fans are oriented properly, have seen builds with all fans blowing in (overpressure) have also seen some with all blowing out (those get real hot real fast ;)  )

My setup is as follows:

Xigmatek case with 2 fans at top - air flow out. 1 rear fan - air flow out. 1 front fan - air flow in.
All fans controlled by motherboard.
Cpu 4770 with 212+ hsf running @ almost 4Ghz (no bump in voltage).
HIS IceQ 7950 @ default speed.

1 SSD and 2 Green WD's.

Maybe I can try manual control of fans instead of board.

Can you put a fan on the side, most Xigmatek cases have a side port for input
