Currently i'm using windows 8 pro on my lappy ,having 2GB RAM ,i3 2.3GHz processor, and AMD Radeon 1GB Graphic card ,500GB hard Drive, So my question is ,Is this configuration enough for dual boot and do i need to backup personal files and folders , here's the screen shot of my disk partitions

You have plenty of hardware, no problems there.

First problem that you need to deal with is the first four partitions. If they are all primary as seems likely you need to change one. Check in disk management to see if they are primary or not. If all 4 are then I suggest that you do a search on your laptop model and ask how to convert one or if one can be removed. Preferably in a forum of the manufacturor. While in disk management you need to create a space for Ubuntu. How much depends on you but at least 10gb. You may want to combine photos and videos first for example to create the space.

Then follow these instructions if your system has UEFI. That you check in the BIOS.

Good luck

You can have only 4 primary partitions, those others are probably not as you created them. Ubuntu needs to use a primary partition and convert it to an extended (still primary) partition where it will install. You could install other systems along side Ubuntu in that extended "primary" partition if you wish to add more in the future.

To find out go to disk management like you did to create your video and other partitions and see what they are. Primary, Logical or other.

Also, since you installed 8 then if there are only 3 primaries in use you can delete the extra music one and start up the Ubuntu on flash or dvd and follow the very simple on screen instructions.

If you have your Ubuntu already on a flash or dvd and you've cleared the space for ubuntu to be installed start it up.

When you get to the partitioning place in the install if you are offered side by side with windows take that and keep going. If you are not given a side by side option simply stop the install, that would mean that you have no free primary. No need to deal with a problem if not there.
