adding ram , 1333, 1600, together.. 4 slots

i want to add 2* 4gb 1600 ram to existing 2* 2gb 1333.. is it possible any problem doing different freq. board asus m4a 785td evo

Yes.... You will land up with random problems later on.....It's is advisable to use same model RAMs in a rig.....

I don't see why 1600 memory could not be under clocked to 1333, but I could be all wrong here, just a guess. If you made the new 1600 the same timing as the old 1333 it should work, would not try to set the 1333 stuff to 1600 though.

It is going to work...... we have all done it before..... but later on as you use the rig, problems start to pop up which can only be solved by replacing all the RAM in extreme cases...

Good practice to keep to same size memory units and speeds, but you can mix.

Saying that, as you will be using two matched pairs, the 1600 should auto-adjust its timings to match the 1333 memory.

If not, take a note of the 1333 timings, cpu-z is good for this and manually set them in bios to force 1600 memory to run as 1333 memory.
