Hi,

Before anyone jumps to conclusions. Yes I plan to overclock the CPU, BUT not immediately. I'm thinking of buying a PC with OC capabilties, but I have a tight budget and the next month (after buying) I plan on picking up the 120mm Cooler Master Seidon H20 Cooling system.

So the question would be, is the i5 4670k stock cooler enough for the non-OC'ed CPU.

P.S. - To not create another thread, I would like to ask which MB is better?

MSI Z87 GD-45 or Asus Z87-A

Yes it will be enough for the non-O'Ced cpu.
This combination will be best for Overclocking i5-4670k:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($144.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $174.97
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Ahh, I see. Why ASRock over Asus? Asus is like the "undisputed" king of Motherboards. The price is similar. So why not Asus?

Not true mate.

Asus and Asrock are both renouned for making the best boards.

The AsRock board has more features in this case.

Is the 212 EVO enough for a haswell CPU, when OC'ing? If let's say, I want to really OC it in the ~4.5-4.7ghz, wouldn't the H20 cooling solution be better?

212 evo will be sufficient till 4.5GHz.

Good to know, but I'll probably stick with the 120m Seidon system.

Btw, I don't want to make a new thread on this, but is the option of Overclocking necessary for "future-proof" PC's?

I really want to build myself a decent gaming rig, that would be powerful for the next 2-3 years. And I can't decide whether to buy Z87 MB+ i5 CPUk or a non-K CPU with a cheaper mobo, w/o overclock.

I'll be getting either the 770 GTX 2GB version, or the R9 280X, for GPU. Can't decide which yet, but I'll probably go with nVidia, because they tend to have better and more stable drivers than nvidia, and 2gb VRAM is enough for Full HD gaming.

Make a new thread with the budget for your build :)  I will give you the best build.
