Hey Guys,

Last night when i was playing battlefield 4 my Antec 600w died. I just got a total power cut then it wouldn't start up again, Out of fear for my other components i unplugged everything then turned on the Antec 600w and it started smoking so i shut the power off and declared it dead.

I grabbed my brothers back up PSU, An unused Corsair HX650. After plugging my components back in using the new PSU i got the "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk And Press Enter" message.

I felt my gpu and it's fans were spinning, But my HDD was not being recognized or powered. I swapped the PCI-E Cables to the next modular socket and my 570's fans still started up and worked, But my HDD still won't start.

Not sure where to go from here, I am not familiar with BIOS settings and the like.

System Specs
Nvidia Asus - GTX 570
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Corsair Dominator, 8gb ddr3
Intel I7 950 @ 3.4ghz
Win 7

Also, Please let me know if I'm using the wrong connections
Am I supposed to be using the Number 1 cable (5 pin to the HDD connector)?
Or the pci-e similar looking plug to the hdd connector?

Hope you guys can help and i hope you can understand my post. Looking forward to any responses/help.

Thanks.

Sounds like the HD died from the power supply dying. Boot disk failure means it can't detect a bootable HD at all. Does the HD show up in the BIOS at all?

I'm fairly sure the HDD is fine, I tried my SSD too without it finding it. I can try with a spare hdd but i need to know if im using the correct connections from the PSU to the HDD first so i dont stuff another drive up.

Thanks for your fast reply Geto
