I am going to buy a new graphics card for my older computer and I am looking for recommendations on what to get. Here are the specs I got and links to the parts.

Motherboard - ASUS M3A78-CM

I currently have a ATI Radeon X1600 installed but I keep getting messages stating I need to upgrade the drivers. I checked and they have the most up to date drivers. Sometimes the whole system crashes and reboots and states I have a driver problem. So I backed up all my files to a 2nd external drive, wiped the whole SATA drive and restarted from scratch. Ran a disk check to be sure there were no bad sectors, there were none and then I re-installed windows XP and updated it, installed every driver that was needed from the ASUS website and it still crashes from time to time while playing oblivion, minecraft, starcraft, starcraft 2, or everquest. It has not crashed during basic web browsing, microsoft word or non-graphic intensive programs. So now I just want to scrap the old card and replace it. I figure I may have just a bad card and I am tired of putting up with it even tho it is good for the basics. (plus it lags a bit when there are over 20 mobs on the screen in oblivion, starcraft 2 or minecraft)

What would be a good graphic card or good pair of graphic cards to go along with this system? Price range is anywhere from $0.00 to $200.00. I figure I can get a few more years out of the system and I am thinking of playing some new games on this old PC if it can support them. What do you think?

Do I need to upgrade the PSU also? (it was a quick replacement when the OCZ PSU fan burned out but was JUST out of warranty from an older system that never got replaced cause it seemed fine)

Any other comments or suggestions would be helpful. I am not tech savvy but I can learn quickly.

I have a game that"requests" I upgrade my drivers........ nvidia card. if I run the same game with an amd card it doesn't.

i see the board has on board graphics. is it disabled in the BIOS?

have you done a BIOS update?

if you need a new card........... maybe a 6670? you machine is dated and putting anything really big on it won't help and may not run........ but it will still be an upgrade over your existing card.
