So I recently purchased this new monitor from a website that listed it as being able to tilt up and down (15 degrees up, 5 degrees down). Even when I google the model number, every single website seems to confirm that it does indeed tilt. Heck, even the user manual .pdf that comes with the monitor says the screen viewing angle can be adjusted by holding the edges of the screen.

Although, for the life of me I cannot get it to tilt. When I try to tilt it upwards (bend the screen to rotate upwards) it feels like it's about to snap and the center of the screen flickers with random colors as if the metal of the stand was about to poke through.

The screen doesn't want to budge at all. I'm fairly certain I followed the installation instructions to the letter. I mean it's a 3-step process. What is going on? By examining the holes of the stand/monitor and the way they were set up, the notion of this monitor being able to tilt is unbelievable.

Am I doing something wrong?

Normally if a monitor can tilt it will have something in the back that makes it look like it can, like my samsung has a solid base and mount without anything extra going on, normally you will see something rounded where the bar goes through to let it tilt.... Like if you look at this http://www.megabuy.com.au/acer-g226hqlbii-215led-169-1920x1080-vga2xhdmi-tilt-3yrs-p368041.html it says tilt available which probably means that there was an option for you to get a stand for it that would allow it to tilt but you must of got the basic stand for it. From what I read at least. All the other pictures make it look like the stand is just a solid.

Yeah it sucks, maybe you could look around for another stand for your monitor maybe for cheap who knows what you will find. Tilt for monitors I really have only found relevant if you are sitting at a fairly small desk without much height to it.
