I was thinking of getting a used ps3,not a new one, cause i will be upgrading to ps4 in a couple of months if the price drops. So i got offered this ps3 phat 40gb for 120$ or to trade it for my old pc which i dont use.The thing is it had ylod before, the guy told me it was the power source,or some problem with power, idk, and it was repaired.Should i get this?I don't want it to die on me in a month, and can't spend too much money by buying something like ps3 slim. What do you guys think? Thanks

Well i am still in high school,so getting that much money needed for the ps4 is not easy, and i probably can't save it till like, spring or summer, but i wanna play gta v,uncharted, infamous and some other games on ps3,i would get it,but my concern is the ylod.

I totally understand your situation. Any decent computer these days is much more powerful than the PS3 which is about 7 years old now. What is your current computer specs? Maybe your current computer could tide you over until you can get the PS4.

Hard to say really...I haven't used my PS3 slim in over a year lol.

My current computer is decent, not great but not too bad either, but it won't help me play the ps3 exclusive games like The last of us etc.Again,my concern is only the yold,i need advice with that. :D

When did this ps3 have ylod and how much does its owner play it now? If it had it a few years ago and he plays it daily you should be fine, just keep in mind that used is used and anything can happen. Does it still have a 40GB HDD? If so you won't have enough space for anything on it.

Not really sure on this, but i think this was recent, definitely not more than a year ago.He first offered it for 100$ without the hdd,but he said he can throw it in for 20$ more, and i plan to play like 1 game at a time, delete it when done,if that is possible. And about the price,it is not too much, the used ones in good condition in my country are like 170-180$

He said i can try it out,but it's in another city, too lazy to go,so probably gonna risk it.He says he guarantees it works, and he has a good mark on this site i found it on,sorta like ebay but Serbia only.I really want to get a ps3,but too god damn concerned about the ylod.probably gonna trade that pc for it and risk it,don't use it anyway.

I personally wouldn't get it but I also have the resources to get a new ps3 over a used. Keep it in a well ventilated area while you play it and you should be fine for playing a few campaigns at least. Clean it out with canned air if it isn't clean already.

There are tons of PS3 bundles for sale brand new for like $200, especially on black friday/Cyber monday.

For example, take a look at this bundle for $200 at gamestop from their leaked black friday ad:
http://www.theblackfriday.com/ads/gamestop/gamestop-black-friday-ad1.shtml

250GB PS3 Slim
The Last of Us
Batman Arkham Origins
It looks like it comes with a 1-year subscription to plus too, but I can't really make it out to be sure.

I would honestly try to save up and buy that. Such a better deal than a used one for $120 with no games.

Yeah, but see,I'm from Serbia,so the shipping from USA to my country would be 70$+...that totals around 300$,and for 400$ i could get a ps4,but like i said, probably will have enough money in like 6 months... :(

Crap, didn't see that part, sorry!

Yeah, do what others have said, make sure it's got plenty of room and well ventilated, don't let dust build up in it.

BTW, Last of Us is amazing. For sure worth picking up and playing.

My advice would be do what you think you are happy with. Test the PS3 before you get it. You won't want to have problems on your ps3 after getting it. Careful bro! All da best in what ever your decisions are.
