Hi,

First of all, here's my rig.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£171.54 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling UCACO-AP11301-BUA01 Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler (£7.99 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£105.44 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£63.53 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card (£258.95 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: XFX 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (£66.91 @ Amazon UK)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) (£65.99 @ Aria PC)

I plan to overclock so my 4670k (i'm not sure by how much though) as I want to get the best of the 7970 for BF4.

I realize this creates a problem with heat.

I plan to use a heating system that came with an old alienware rig from 2006. It still works, however it came attached to a exhaust fan (if you understand what I mean by this). As it's 7 years old, I am going to replace the fan and reattach it to the cooling system.I also would like to save money by using this old liquid cooling system and also sort out the heat situation.

However, when I took heatsink that is connected to the cooling system, the old thermal paste from the CPU came of, and is still on it. I realize that I will need to scrape this off for maximum efficiency.

I would ideally like to have a quiet system.

Also, for a point of reference, here is a cooling system that is identical to the one i've got, including the radiator attached to the fan. As far as I know it is a closed loop system.

Here are the questions:

Is it going to kill my system if I use and old cooling system?

Would it be advisable to just get a new liquid cooling system to avoid problems?

Would I have compatibility problems with my Asus Z87 mobo?

Would i be better off using fans?

Also on a side note, any hints or tips about using them/installing them would be really good.

Cheers!

hello, Looks like you have a 120mm radiator with a shroud to a 92mm fan, a pump, and small res is part of the radiator with a pump?
If this is right, this is a little light for a water cooling system, and will work a little better that a good air cooling system, but not by much assuming that this will only be cooling the CPU.
A 240mm radiator is the smallest I would use on a CPU only setup.
For a video card and CPU I would use a large 360mm radiator minimum.
Attaching old hardware to a new system will not harm your current system, I have been doing that for years, it is the whole reason for going to water cooling; it is a one stop solution for all builds.

and the temps on that build are as such, the CPU stays cool, but the GPU get a little warm durring benchmarks.

Yes, I would because radiators are not that much, you will spend more on good fans for the radiator than the radiator its self, you also might want to consider getting a fan controller for this build, as most mother boards cannot handle both the case fans and radiator fans at the same time.
