Hi Guys,

Currently I have an I7 laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M and 8GB ram it is struggling a bit with WOW in high populated areas such as timeless isle and raids. As I am unable to upgrade the graphics I am looking to build myself another desktop PC.

Please can you advise on a setup that will allow me to play the game on high or ultra settings with high FPS. Money is an issue so what I am looking for is the best spec bang for bucks budget build.

I already have a case but that is all I have. I also require a monitor. 22" or 24" with 1920x1080 res atleast. No OS required.

The ability to over clock would be great too. I am open to Intel or AMD processors. Just want the best spec for running on high / ultra for the cheapest price.

budget of around £600 if possible but can stretch if not achieveable with monitor.

Put this together what do you guys think? Please let me know if there is better alternative. Will this spec allow me to play the game on high / ultra? If not let me know what I would need to upgrade or change.

As a WoW player, I need to warn you: AMD processors are severely hamstrung on WoW. This CPU would match Intel's lower end quad core CPUs in most cases, but in WoW, it would barely match up with the dual core Pentium line. I highly recommend Intel processors for WoW in any case. I don't know why, but the AMD processors seem to cap out at about 40% utilization under WoW. The game just doesn't utilize the processor correctly. I'd recommend the Core i5 line, but even the i3 line would do better than any AMD CPU.

(On another note: I have that same MB in my server, and it is great. Nice choice there.)

Hi thanks for your replies really appreciate it. dgingeri that is very interesting to learn. Please could you recommend an intel processor and motherboard that you think would be up to the job of high / ultimate settings?

Thanks

Actually, is is currently very 4 thread optimized. Any more than 4 cores aren't used at all, but up to 4 cores are quite effectively used. However, AMD processors are under-utilized for some reason. Even the 4 cores that are used aren't used fully, and the game's fps is held back.
