i turned my pc of and came back to it in 4-5 hours and as it was loading a red screen came before it stared to load windows and said "overclocker failure" something like that. after 5-10 seconds it went of its self so i carried of thinking it may of sorted itself out, no no, i get a blue screen of death saying it has shut windows down to prevent anymore damage. iv tried running a windows repair and even that stops.
i don't have a clue what to do,

my pc specs:
intel duo core 2.8Ghz (turbo to 3.79Ghz)
16GB DDR3 RAM
240GB SATA hard drive
NVidia gtx 470 palit edition 2GB (overclocked)
asus motherboard cant remember which one but it is PCI 2
650 power supply
and i have 3 fans for cooling

i would really love some advise as i don't have a clue what to do. the machine has been used as a gaming machine.
i have had a friend tell me that i should take my GPU out and run my pc without it and see what happens or switch RAM or switch CPU
please help me as i really need it back up running soon thank you
