hey, so i am looking to build a nwe pc, now i am looking for a nice not to pricey ram kit at 2133hz, so i found this kit: http://www.alternate.nl/G.Skill/G.Skill+8_GB_DDR3-2133_Kit,_geheugen/html/product/893704/?event=search which has cl9 and 2133hz for a reasonable price, now my only concern is that it runs at 1.65 v
now i read a couple of times that high volltage is bad for your cpu or something, but can someone please explain if these are good or bad, and if they are bad advice me another kit.

Hi,

You are confusing memory voltage and cpu voltage. They are not related at all.
The concern about high voltage and CPU is when you overclock the CPU.
The important thing about the voltage for the memory is if your motherboard supports it.

About the memory you chose, you won't notice any difference if you don't overclock and it's actually overkill if you don't overclock.

You might be better off with cheaper memory and most of the time 1333 / 1600 is the sweet spot for ivy bridge and haswell. It is better to get better timing (the lower the better ) vs faster speed. But most of the time, you won't notice the difference.

1.65 is fine for 2133 and up, the Intel 1.5 recommendation is for basically the stock memory at the rated 1600, I try and stick with 1.5 for 1866 and below, then most all 2133 and above is 1.6-1.65 (1.65 is the highest you want to go).

The set you chose is a good one and should be fine with Intel Sandy or Ivy Bridge as well as Haswell builds (with a K CPU), it's a bit much if going AMD 9few AMD CPUs can carry 2133.

And just for informational purposes, for both IB and Haswell 1333 is pretty much a waste of time, 1600 is bare basic entry level and 1866 (particularly for Haswell) is the accepted 'sweet' spot especially with K models, as Haswell scales to memory extremely well, most of my builds are 2133 and up

A good article on Haswell and DRAM here:

Hey, thanks for clearing it up, One quostion, I Was thinking of geting the fx-8320 since I like the idea of 8 cores and it is $60 cheaper than a i5 4670k around here. But do you think the memory wil work fine onsThat one aswell?
