I have 8GB of RAM but my computer says I only have 4GB?

I have a dell studio xps 435 with an intel core i7 cpu 920 @ 2.67 ghz and i recently upgraded my graphics card to a gefoce gtx 660 3 gb and i had 8 gb of memory now i only have 4 gb of memory. if you could help me resolve this problem that would be awesome

Okay, I'm not quite sure how much RAM you have in your computer given that somewhat confusing last post but if you have more than one stick, try booting with each of the sticks by itself, and see if it boots. That way you can guarantee that both sticks actually work. If it doesn't boot, make sure you try every port because one port might be malfunctioning, etc.

@asp i have 6x1gb sticks i found out from cpu-z and my computer properties always said that i had 8gb then i installed a new graphics card and it went down to 4 and i need at least 6 to run call of duty ghosts and @tradesman i will try that

Hmm. You should have 6GB then, regardless of what Windows tells you. Can you not run Ghosts then? Also, if other troubleshooting doesn't work, is there any chance of testing the RAM in another computer? This would be a good way of determining whether the stick is in fact a 6GB stick... Factories make mistakes too so maybe the stick you got isn't 6GB! Perhaops your mobo doesn't support more than 4GB? Other than that, I got nufin'. :(

so i found out that i couldnt start the game because of this and there is a game crack for it but my computer properties still says it has 4gb and i was talking to dell tech support and thats what they said
