Hi all,

Sorry for an easy question but I'm looking to see what the difference is between the two boards are? I'm looking to build a computer primarily for semi-heavy gaming (with single GPU 280x) and heavy data crunching.

I've looked at the specs and see the Extreme 6 has more "things" like PCI-e slots. I'm a first time builder, so I'm really unfamiliar with the more technical things, so if you could list the differences in what added functionalities I can have (ie. extra HDMI port for another monitor setup, extra PCI-e slot for ______), that would be extremely helpful.

You would never need a PCI-E 2.0, when you have 2 at 3.0. Any add-on card you could throw in a mini-PCIe slot, you could throw in a standard PCI slot as well. It's really not worth the extra $50-$60, will never do anything extra for you, guaranteed.

It may go cheaper, but I kinda doubt it, really good motherboards don't often get selected for deep discounts during Black Friday.

Literally for you, there are no real differences. The Extreme4 has plenty of PCI-E slots, you'll likely never fill them all. And at that price above ($99), it's a no brainer (deal ends 11/11). The

The PCI difference you're referring to, is the Extreme6 has a couple other PCI options: a PCI Express 2.0 x16 and a mini-PCIe slot. Neither of which you will really need.

Yes! I saw the deal, which is why I'm slightly confused. I was originally going for the Extreme6. Would you mind explaining what the other PCI options would be used for? I just want to be sure I've covered all the bases for what my rig will/may be used for, as I'm hoping to keep this build for a good 4-6 years without having to keep upgrading/adding parts to accommodate my needs.

Also, would you happen to know if the mobo will get any cheaper as far as deals go? I know Black Friday/Cyber Monday is just around the corner, and Newegg's doing a "Black November" will sales all around Nov. Do you think I might be able to get something even cheaper around BF/CM or is this probably the best as it gets?
