SSD running ide instead of ahci

so today i discovered the magic of ramdisk.
as i did, i decided to run some benchmark on all of my drives just to compare speed.
this is the result: http://i.imgur.com/ftIqZnN.png
now, i looked at that, and, well, the ssd speed was rather on the slow side.
ssd is an ocz agility3 120gb.
so i asked around and got told to check the sata controller.
i rebooted, went into bios, and sure enough, sata controller is in ide mode, not ahci.
the ssd physically is connected to a sata3 6gb/s port.
simply flicking the setting in the bios made it not want to boot.
i tried it after doing the windows kb 922976 fix and that didn't help.
motherboard is an asus m5a88-m running 1601 bios.
system is windows7-64, i also have a secondary hdd connected where games/films are installed etc
so, is there any way to set it to ahci and have it work, without reinstalling all of the things?
thanks in advance

Thanks for your help everyone, I managed to fix it by tweaking the boot order after setting controller to AHCI, something I completely forgot to do before. So now it's working properly. I guess the windows kb fix or whatever must have worked in the end then.
