Win7? Right click on My Computer and select "Manage". Make your way to Storage/Disk Management and right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk.

Sorry for the misunderstood. My problem is on boot. The hdd is not recogniced by the mainboard. Can it be forced in any way?
Have you gone into BIOS at the POST screen and made sure the drive was recognized, and that it is set as the first drive and the boot drive? I'm assuming you want it to be the boot drive.
