Thanks AppleKid, I checked the display with my netbook. Monitor is fine. The desktop powers up by itself when I plug the cord into power supply and fans are at full tilt, but no USB or display, say monitor is going into power save mode. Believe I have a bad power supply, maybe ????!!!???

By "Graphics card" I'm not talking about the monitor, im talking about where you plug the monitor in to.
When you plug the display into your computer, the cable at one end goes into the monitor and the other into the pc.
Where it plugs into the pc, it will either plug into the top of the back where all the back usb ports are and such. (If you don't have a graphics card)
If you do have a graphics card, you will plug the monitor in at a lower position, where there is display outputs like VGA, DVI and HDMI.
Now, if you take the left from front side panel off of your computer, you will see the graphics card inside. It will look something like this:

That card might be the problem.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask me, but if you do need your graphics card replaced, and you don't really know how to do it, I suggest taking it to a computer store and have a conversation with one of the people there about it.
It will be more expensive, but you won't need to worry about messing it up.
All the best :)

Connect your power cord to your netbook to make sure power isn't the problem... Okay then if you can go to Control Panel>Power Options.... Select High Performance.....

If your Display breaks out when removing the power cord then your netbook's battery is the main problem....Try the above things and see if the power is the problem or not...
