Random PC shutdowns

Hey everyone. I have this issue that is driving me to wits end. Whenever I start to play a game, after 15 minutes or so my PC shuts down. Now I know for a fact it is not a heat issue. My GPU gets to around 65C while CPU hits around 55-60C. I can surf the web, watch movies and even play some older games with no problem. Below is a list of specs. Any info will help.

ASUS P8Z77-V Motherboard
Nvidia Geforce GTX 650Ti
I7 2600k
Thermaltake TR2-700W PSU
Cooler master 212 EVO

Let me know if you need any other info

I would lean towards a PSU issue as I have seen many other systems with a TR2 PSU do the same thing.

What game are you playing? It could be it requires a lot of video memory and is causing the issue. Try not having other programs open while game-playing, dont recharge your phone or mp3 player during the game, don't be doing downloads, disable windows updates for the duration of the game.

I am running Battlefield 4. Most other games seem to work.

As far as PSU issues, are there any others that I should look in to with my specs? Thanks for the help everyone.

A good 500w unit would be fine. Seasonic, XFX, Antec, Corsair(excluding CX) would work. The biggest issue with the TR2's is they deliver dirty power. The power has too much ripple and will cause system instability and shutdowns. The ripple worsens under load, and BF4 is going to max that GPU out, the older games probably aren't. It's possible it could be something else but I have seen similar issues before with that model of PSU.

4GB of RAM is the minimum, but 8GB is recommended. 3GB of graphics memory is also recommended.

As for the operating system, DICE recommends Windows 8 64-bit, but will function on Windows Vista SP2 32-bit.

Battlefield 4 will also require 30GB of free hard drive space.

It's a big memory hog of a game, you might find that you can only get as much as 15 minutes of game play anyhow unless you have a belt clip full of memory.

Don't have any other programs running in the background

I have 8 GB of RAM and right now this is the only GPU I will be able to afford. As far as other programs running it is just google chrome running in the back along with a few monitors checking heat and whatnot. I am also running Windows 7 at the moment. Im even running the game on the low side.

Also thanks for the heads up on the PSU. Ill try to borrow a friends before I go buy one and that not be the problem. This really bugs me because I just got the card a week ago and the EVO. Its quickly becoming a money pit to play a 60 dollar game lol.

I would also look at the PSU - I had exactly the same issues a few years ago and the PSU ultimately died on me - go with Seasonic

So I can hear a sound coming out of my psu when running games. Its like a scratchy chirp is how I can describe it. I guess that is a good indicator of needing a power supply. It inly does this when running games, but won't do this with my old graphics card.

Sounds like the PSU for sure - change it before it dies and takes something expensive with it.
