Hello, I would like to know if for my use which is gaming at 60 fps on a single 1080p screen what the best card is. I've built pc's before but i'd like some 3rd party input. I was going to go with the GTX 780 but then I saw that the R9 290 matches 780 performance for $100 less, then I saw the 780 comes with 3 free games, then I read somewhere that nvidia is coming out with new card Q1 next year. THEN I read that nvidia is coming out with Gsync and it's really damn confusing to keep up with this. So any suggestions? Here's the rest of my build, oh and I already have a 1 TB barracuda. That's why there's no hard drive [PCPartPicker part list](http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1YvVo) / [Price breakdown by merchant](http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1YvVo/by_merchant/) / [Benchmarks](http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1YvVo/benchmarks/)

Solution

If you're OK with a hotter GPU and 70W more TDP, get the R9 290X, for energy efficient computing, get the 770.

The main issue with AMD cards is that 1. They state it was designed to run at 95C and 2. The fans are really loud.

So would you go with the 780 or the 290? Mantle looks pretty promising.
