Hello everyone,
Forgive me for asking something basic, by altough I would like to, I don't understand a lot about computers. I searched thoroughly articles regarding this subject, and altough I found a few even in tom's hardware, they weren't enough to answer my doubt.

I have a computer with a ASUS P7P55D LE motherboard, and currently it has 2x2 GB (4gb total) Corsair DDR3 1600hz. I would like to expand it to at least 8gb, so I was planning on buying a package of 2x4gb corsair DDR3 vengeance 1600hz. I was wondering if it would be possible to keep my 2x2gb ram, and have a total of 12gb ram, having 2 matched pairs of memories.
Would it be a compatible?

Thanks a lot!

Generally you don't want to plan to mix DRAM as it can be problematic, you're taking the right approach - going to 8 and hoping the other sticks might play nice - best bet is to look for a 2x4GB set with the same base timings, freq and voltage...get those, install and make sure they are stable, then add your older sticks and give it a try, if any problems give me a shout or PM me, I can generally get them to play with voltage and timing adjustments.
