My PC is upstairs and my router/modem are downstairs. I've been using a WiFi card for around a year and I'm sick of it. I only get around 5mbps. I'm pretty sure its my plan, but say i was to use Ethernet as apposed to WiFi, would I still get 5mbps or is Ethernet way faster? And how would I get it upstairs? I have no Ethernet ports upstairs so could I run a 100ft Ethernet up there or what would be the fastest most reliable internet in my case. And is there a way to get a modem/router up here and down there that runs on the same plan?

1. What 'speed' do you pay your ISP for?
2. An ethernet cable is the fastest, most secure connection.
2. WiFi or wired, you will never get faster connection to the outside world than what you pay your provider for. On your internal LAN, yes....can be amazingly fast. But for external, see #1.
